What is a Business Rewards Mile?

A Business Rewards Mile is the reward currency earned for every eligible flight taken by a member of your organisation. The organisation earns Miles applicable towards award travel on Emirates flights, that you can utilise as you see fit within your organisation.

How do I enrol?

Starting a Business Rewards account for your company or another organisation is easy.

  1. Skywards information:
    First, we'll ask you for your individual Skywards account number, which is required of all participants in the Business Rewards programme. If you're not yet a Skywards member, you can join during the process.

  2. Organisation information:
    Second, we'll need to gather some very basic information about your organisation. This will enable us to create your Business Rewards account and begin inviting individual members.

  3. Invite individual members:
    Finally, after you have created a Business Rewards account, you can use our simple online form to begin inviting individuals within your organisation to enrol in the programme.

How much does a Business Rewards membership cost?

Absolutely nothing! It's free.

Can the company register twice under different names?

It is possible, however, it means that the Business Rewards Miles earned would be split over two accounts.

Can I update my organisation’s details online, once enrolled?

Yes, by using edit company profile.

Who manages the Business Rewards account?

Each account has a Business Rewards administrator who can manage the membership, book travel for members, and use Business Rewards Miles to book travel and view travel reports.

How many Business Rewards administrators can an organisation have?

There are no limitations and you can have multiple administrators. However by default, the person who creates a Business Rewards account is assigned as the administrator. The role can then be reassigned at any time to another individual.

Do members have to reside in the country where the Business Rewards organisation is registered?

Members need not live in the country where the organisation is registered.

How many members can a Business Rewards account have?

A Business Rewards account can have a maximum of 80 members. They may add up to 80 new members in any year, but cannot exceed the maximum membership. If for example, three members are removed from this programme, the administrator cannot add another three names in the same year if they have already added 80 new members in that year.

Can a member register for two Business Rewards organisations?

No. Each member is a Skywards member, and each member can only be linked to one Business Rewards organisation at any time.

Once I’ve become a member, how will I be advised?

Once you join online, you will receive an email confirming your membership.

How long are Business Reward Miles valid for?

Business Rewards Miles are valid for three years from the flight date. They will expire on the next anniversary of the organisation’s joining date.

For example, if the joining date of your organisation was in August 2008, and you earned Business Rewards Miles in June 2009, your Miles will expire on 31st August 2012. Or, if you earned Miles in October 2008 and the joining date of your organisation is in May 2008, your Miles will expire on 31st May 2012.

Can I earn Business Rewards Miles on any Emirates or Skywards partner airlines?

You can earn Miles only on Emirates flights booked online through Business Rewards. The actual number of Miles earned depends on how much is spent on the ticket.

Can I earn Business Rewards Miles on flights taken before I joined Business Rewards?

No, unfortunately not. Miles can only be credited for flights taken whilst part of the Business Rewards programme.

How many Miles can be earned for a given route?

You earn two miles per US$ spent on the base fare. The base fare is the fare before surcharges, taxes, service fees etc., as displayed for each flight in the Business Rewards booking engine.

Can I earn Miles on codeshare flights?

No, only flights with an Emirates flight number earn Miles.

Can members earn Miles on all Emirates online fares?
Yes, if the flight is booked as a Business Rewards flight.
Are Business Rewards Miles credited automatically after a flight?

Business Rewards Miles are calculated at the end of each month for travel completed in that month. If an itinerary begins in one month and ends in a subsequent month, the Business Rewards Miles earned for that itinerary will be added to each month on a pro rata basis. Business Rewards Miles earned in a given month will appear in the Group Administrator view of the organisation’s account and be fully redeemable by the 18th day of the following month.

E.g. Booking from Dubai – London – Dubai.

Travel Dubai-London on the 27-Feb-09 Business Reward (BR) Miles will be credited on the 18-Mar-09.
Travel London-Dubai on the 03-Mar-09 Business Reward (BR) Miles will be credited on the 18-Apr-09.

How do I know if my last flight has been credited?
The most up-to-date information about your Business Rewards account is always available online at emirates.com by selecting the country where your organisation is registered.
Can I purchase Business Rewards Miles?

No.

Can I add Business Rewards Miles to my account prior to travel?
No, Miles may only be added once travel is completed.
Once an organisation’s Business Rewards account is cancelled, can the Miles be transferred to another Business Rewards account?

No.

Can I earn Miles when travelling on a Business Rewards award ticket?
Travelling on any of the following disqualifies you from earning Business Rewards Miles: Business Rewards award tickets, if you are denied boarding for any reason, contra tickets, discount travel, reward tickets issued by other frequency or loyalty programmes of which Skywards or an affiliate is a participant, free travel, and non-scheduled or charter flights.
How can I check my current Business Rewards Mileage Balance?
You can check your Business Rewards Mileage Balance online at emirates.com by selecting the country where your organisation is registered, once logged in as an administrator.
Can I earn Miles on an unused ticket?
No, Business Rewards Miles can only be earned once a flight has been taken. Business Rewards Miles are calculated at the end of each month for travel completed in that month. If an itinerary begins in one month and ends in a subsequent month, the Business Rewards Miles earned for that itinerary will be added to each month on a pro rata basis. Business Rewards Miles earned in a given month will appear in the Group Administrator view of the organisation’s account and be fully redeemable by the 18th day of the following month.

If I was upgraded by Emirates at the time of travel, will I be awarded Business Reward Miles as per the upgrade or my original ticket?
You will be awarded Business Rewards Miles as per your original ticket and the class of travel paid for.
What happens to my Business Rewards Miles if my Emirates flight gets cancelled or disrupted and I am transferred to another airline?
You will earn Business Rewards Miles as per the original booking on your ticket if the cancellation/disruption was due to operational reasons.
How long do I have to wait before my Miles appear in my Business Rewards account?
Business Rewards Miles are calculated at the end of each month for travel completed in that month. Can I combine my Business Rewards Miles with those in another Business Rewards organisation’s account if I do not have sufficient Miles in my account?
No, you cannot combine your Business Rewards Miles with those from another Business Rewards organisation.
How many Business Rewards Miles are needed to redeem an award flight?
The number of Business Rewards Miles needed for a round trip reward ticket varies according to origin, destination and the class of travel. Members can use the Awards calculator on the Business Rewards site to determine the number of potential Miles required per Emirates flight.
Can Miles from two Business Reward accounts be combined to claim an award?
Sorry, no.
How long are Business Rewards award tickets valid for?
Business Rewards award tickets are valid for one year from the date of issue. If multiple coupons are issued, they cannot be used out of sequence.
How do I book my rewards using my Business Rewards Miles?

If you want to book a Business Rewards award flight, the administrator of the account can book online once they have logged in.

Can Business Rewards award ticket bookings be made through local travel agents?
No. You can only make Business Rewards award bookings through the online booking engine.
I want to utilise my Business Rewards Miles but cannot get bookings since it is peak season – what should I do?
While you have to redeem your Miles before the expiry date, the award tickets are valid for a full twelve months from the date of issue. You do not have to restrict your travel to dates prior to Mileage expiry, but seat availability is limited.
Can I extend my Miles which are expiring?

Sorry, no. As per the Terms & Conditions of the Business Rewards programme, validity of Miles cannot be extended.

If I don’t have enough points for a Business Rewards award flight, can I purchase additional Miles to allow me to redeem a reward?

Sorry, no. As per the Terms & Conditions of the Business Rewards programme, Miles cannot be purchased.

Can I cancel or amend my Business Reward award booking?
Cancellation is permitted for unused and valid award tickets. The refund of Miles and refund for taxes can be requested through the Emirates ticketing office. There is no credit for expired Miles. Payment of US$ 50 is applicable as service charge for such re-crediting. For expired tickets, taxes can be refunded if the tickets are unutilized. In which case, there is no service fee and no refund of Miles.
How do I pay for taxes, fees & charges applicable to my Business Reward award booking?
Taxes, fees and charges must be paid for at time of ticketing.
How far in advance must Business Rewards award bookings be made?

Business Rewards award bookings can be made online up to six hours before the flight, subject to seat availability on the flight in the reward category.

Why are my Business Reward Miles missing from my account?

Business Rewards Miles may not be credited to your account for two possible reasons:

  1.  The transaction is still being processed.

  2. The booking may not have been made online through Business Rewards and therefore was not recognised as a Business Rewards booking.

If you have Miles that have not been credited to your account, you can make a Business Rewards Retro Mileage Claim within 60 days from the relevant flight or transaction date, if you believe the flight qualifies.

Can you combine Skywards and Business Rewards Miles?
Business Rewards Miles cannot be combined or added to Skywards Miles and rewards or vice versa.
Can I pay partly with Business Rewards Miles and partly cash to reduce the fare and/or Miles needed?

No, all tickets must be paid for using the available payment methods. For Business Rewards award bookings, only the taxes and surcharges can be paid for using cash.

Can a one-way award ticket be issued on Business Rewards?
No, it has to be a return ticket. The same applies with the Skywards programme.
Is it possible to change the destination on the return sector on a Business Rewards redemption booking? E.g. change London-Dubai to Frankfurt-Dubai.

No, rerouting is not allowed on a Business Rewards award booking. It is only possible to change from London Gatwick to London Heathrow Airport, and any additional tax must be paid.

If I issue an award booking before my Miles expire, can I refund the ticket later? Will I also receive all my Miles in my Business Rewards account again?
Refund of a Business Rewards award ticket is possible, however, Miles will not be credited back to your account if expired. Only taxes will be refunded on payment of US$ 50 service charge for such re-crediting.
Am I automatically entitled to free upgrades when I travel?

Business Rewards or Skywards membership, at any level, does not automatically entitle you to a free upgrade.

As a Business Rewards member, do I get access to lounge facilities at the airport?
No, this is not a benefit of the programme, however, as a Skywards member, you still continue to receive the benefits specific to each level of membership. 
Skywards is changing, what is the effect on Business Rewards?
Changes to the Skywards programme will only affect Business Rewards Miles redemptions. There are no other changes to the programme; you will continue to earn 2 Business Rewards Miles for every US dollar spent on Emirates flights.
What are the changes to the Business Rewards Miles redemption rates?
From the 1st January 2010 new rates will apply to both Skywards and Business Rewards redemption tickets, these new rates have been published on the Skywards website. These changes will also allow you to redeem your Business Rewards Miles for one way award ticket. The Business Rewards Awards Calculator will be updated once these new rates are effective.
