Paris Charles de Gaulle airport is situated in Roissy-en-France, 23km northeast of the city centre. There are several ways to reach the airport ahead of your flight to Zanzibar.
It can take between 30 minutes and an hour to reach Charles de Gaulle by car or taxi from central Paris, depending on traffic. The Paris RER rail system features a direct connection between Charles de Gaulle and several key Paris stations. We also have a partnership with French rail operator SNCF, allowing you to combine your flight and TGV rail journey to Charles de Gaulle in one ticket. Meanwhile, the RoissyBus shuttle bus departs frequently from Paris-Opéra and reaches Charles de Gaulle in around an hour.
After check-in at Charles de Gaulle, Business and First Class passengers and Emirates Skywards Platinum or Gold members can unwind in the peaceful setting of an Emirates Lounge. Enjoy an exquisite variety of local dishes as well as premium spirits, liqueurs and wines, allowing for an elite dining experience before you board your flight to Zanzibar.
Whether you’re sliding closed the doors to your Private Suite in First Class or enjoying gourmet cuisine in Business Class, you’ll experience a superior level of comfort on your flight from Paris.
Abeid Amani Karume International Airport is located to the west of Unguja Island and is Zanzibar’s main airport, though it’s much smaller than Paris Charles de Gaulle. Taxis and pre-arranged transfers are the most efficient way to leave the airport in Zanzibar, but you can also reach your destination via a ‘dala dala’, which is a van or small minibus typically used by the locals.
It usually takes between 10 - 20 minutes to reach Zanzibar City from Abeid Amani Karume International Airport by car. It’s approximately an hour and a half to Pingwe or Jambiani, two popular beach towns on the eastern side of the island, and around the same to the rural surroundings of Kizimkazi in the south. It’s also an hour and a half to drive to Nungwi, the nightlife hotspot at the northernmost tip.
Zanzibar offers a variety of peaceful retreats thanks to its wealth of exquisite white-sand beaches and Indian Ocean location. It’s home to diverse wildlife that is dispersed through its lush mangrove forests and crystal clear waters. The architectural melting pot that is Stone Town in Zanzibar City provides a contrasting vibe. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is a labyrinth of charming alleyways punctuated by buzzing marketplaces.
