If you’re looking for adventure and wildlife, a horseback ride with the Al Jiyad Stables is a must. Rides at the stables, located in Dubai’s mesmerising Saih Al Salam desert, often include sightings of gazelles, foxes and oryx. If you’re after an Arabian Nights-inspired experience, consider a desert hack on camelback. Al Jiyad Stables’ camels – some of which the stables have bred themselves – are native to the Arabian Peninsula, making them exceptionally acclimatised to the area.

Ali Mohammed Al Marzooqi founded the family-owned and run Al Jiyad Stables in 1989. The stables then became a professional riding school in 2003, with the Emirates Equestrian Federation’s official approval. Managed by a passionate team of equine professionals, the school has had a hand in training some of the region’s most esteemed riders, including Hussain Ali Al Marzooqi, who won the FEI World Endurance Champion for Juniors and Young Riders in 2009, and Aliya Ali Al Marzooqi, who was crowned a champion of bareback racing in 2005 and 2013.

Al Jiyad Stables acknowledges that its success would not be possible without the support and encouragement of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council.
