Mohammed Bin Rashid Library

Built in the shape of a rehl, the traditional wooden book rest used to hold the Quran,
our library building overlooks Dubai Creek. Our seven-story structure houses Dubai’s
most ambitious cultural initiative to date, establishing a lighthouse of knowledge,
culture and creativity with an objective to grow a collection by acquiring millions of
books from around the world.

The library is the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The
Library’s primary goal is to stimulate a passion for knowledge among all those living in
the United Arab Emirates, in particular among young people. We actively support and
encourage reading, research, creativity, and entrepreneurship by providing free access
to an outstanding range of books and other knowledge resources, quality information
services and our event calendar.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library is comprised of 9 main library collections: The
General Library, Children Library, young adult library, Map and Atlas Library, Media and Arts Library, Business Library, Emirates Library, Periodicals Library and a Special Collections Library. The 7th floor of the library hosts “Treasures of the Library” permanent exhibition which displays a fascinating collection of rare and old books, atlases, writing tools, and manuscripts dating back to the 13th century.
In addition to physical collections, our library provides access to a wide variety of ebooks
and other digital media.

In keeping with our goal to provide free access to the library for everyone, we strive to ensure that all our facilities can be enjoyed by people of determination. All library spaces are suitable for those with mobile impairment, accessible by wheelchairs with ramps and wheelchair spaces in reading areas. 
Our audio book library is a fantastic resource for everyone and especially useful to the visually impaired or those with reading difficulties. In addition, the library hosts a range of Braille books.
